Best Practices

Constituent Groups

Use the shared NASPA system to make a constituent group identifiable while keeping its connection to the association clear.

01

Use the approved group identity

Every group follows the same structure, represented in this portal by the Knowledge Communities example.

  • Download the approved horizontal or vertical group logo from the asset library.
  • Use the diamond for a social avatar or favicon when the full lockup would be too small.
  • Keep logo proportions, colors, type, clear space, and relationships unchanged.
  • Do not build a new badge, sub-brand, event logo, or alternate lockup.

02

Create from shared templates

The Brand Kit keeps groups consistent while leaving room for names, copy, images, and program details.

  • Sign in through the NASPA Canva team when applicable.
  • Start with the group-ready template and create a copy before editing.
  • Edit only the intended fields; retain locked layout, logo, type, and color elements.
  • Choose from approved color variations instead of inventing a group palette.

03

Plan for review and leadership handoff

Constituent group communication should remain usable when volunteer roles change.

  • Use organization-managed accounts and maintain at least two current administrators.
  • Keep final assets, copy, approvals, and source files in the approved shared location.
  • Document recurring channels, deadlines, owners, and recovery information.
  • Use the MarComm request form to request a new format, co-branding review, or access support.
